Project Breakdown:
For this project, I experimented with the use of Blender's "Discombobulate Mesh" option, as well as the use of Layer Weights and Mapping Nodes to produce some interesting lighting effects. This Material Design set-up helped me create this simple, science fiction-styled scene. The seemingly-organic creature in the scene was created by transforming a spherical object. I applied a wave modifier to animate the creature's movement, after which I parented it to a circular Motion Path, all while subtly rotating the creature in tandem with the 3D Camera's movement.
